In to the Wild

Into the Wild (1996) by Jon Krakauer is a bestselling nonfiction book about the adventures of Christopher McCandless. Krakauer intersperses McCandless's history with a discussion on the nature of experiences of people such as Everett Ruess, John Muir, and John Edwards Menlove, and some of their own adventures. Krakauer first to Alaska in 1974 and has returned there 20 times since then. He spent three years carrying out research work as background for this biography. The book was adapted into a 2007 film of the same name directed by Sean Penn with Emile Hirsch as McCandless protagonist.

McCandless died at age 24 in a desert area in the state of Alaska. Although the evidence is not conclusive, it has been suggested that McCandless died from eating a wild potato root had a poisonous fungus on it, leading to their hunger, from specimens from all over the bus has not been positive for toxin, and Krakauer changed his theory to suggest that a mold that hinders digestion could be responsible.

The film version directed by Sean Penn and also has a soverbia soundtrack by Eddie Vedder, lead singer of Pearl Jam. The film that tells the story immediately sparks the concern for the life of Chris McCandless, the protagonist, and so it just push everyone to read the book by Jon Krakauer on which the film, which would touched the soul deeply. Perhaps the film of Penn, to be much more limited in their temporary work written dispense tickets that are fundamental to understand the background of McCandless's journey and what this true story at the time meant that part of the youth U.S. ANTI and romantic ideas. (The Associated Press, 1) The film highlights, and in some cases exaggerates some aspects of personal relationships that McCandless experienced, including her parents and the internal conflicts of its own interaction with a 16-year-old was found in his journeys. Other interactions portrayed in the film, however, seem very accurate based on Krakauer research, including the characters of Jan Burren, played by Catherine Keener, and "Ronald Franz" (pseudonym), played by Hal Holbrook. The film's representation of McCandless's death differs from the situation described in Krakauer's book. Penn suggests through the camera eye that McCandless mixed up seeds of H. Alpinum with H. Mackenzii toxic, a controversial theory Krakauer in his book. McCandless's story is also the subject of a documentary by Ron Lamothe 2007 called The Call of the Wild. In their study of the death of McCandless, Lamothe concluded that McCandless starved to death and was not poisoned by eating the seeds of wild potato.

Based on real events, captured in book form by Jon Krakauer, "Into The Wild" has become a prayer of a film by Sean Penn. You may not touch everyone, but those it touches, it touches deeply. It is an unforgettable odyssey. In 1990, Christopher McCandless, at the age of 20 years, graduated from Emory University in Atlanta. He gave the money remaining in his college fund - $ 24,000 - to charity, burned his cash and social security card, and went on the road in their rate of Datsun. It was headed for Alaska.
Chris was the offspring of Jack London, Henry David Thoreau, Holden Caulfield and Jack Kerouac. He was a fierce anti-materialistic, self-absorbed dreamer. He was also a little more than a boy. He left a mother and a father who is always engaged and dispute the status of wealth and property, and a younger sister that he loved and tried to protect. Who have been orphaned renamed himself and himself pompously, Alexander Supertramp. Your name may be the only claim in the film.

"Into The Wild" refers to both the contact and relationship with humans as it is the wildlife. Near the end, Chris writes in his notebook: "I am alone." Loses other human beings. And no wonder, because on the way to create human sense, symbiotic connections. Some become your personal mentor. Chris meets an ex-hippie couple (Catherine Keener and Brian Dierkes) that are still on the road. They are having personal problems, but his encounter with Chris gives them a new perspective. And take care of him. In South Dakota, Chris meets a grain farmer (Vince Vaughan), which has some illegal activities going on the side. Also becomes a mentor for the young explorer. Perhaps the most moving event was when Chris meets 80-year-old retired Army man (Hal Holbrook) who lives alone, works with leather. Shared visions. The cast is very human. Holbrook is an Oscar-worthy performance as the man whose spirit is renewed. Catherine Keener, as always, is as palpable human aging hippie. Your spouse, Walt, played by Brian Dierk. Who is it? You do not know Brian Dierkes unless it has passed the rapids of the Colorado River. So this will not affect performance, Dierk was not an actor. Is a guide to whitewater rafting Penn met in the place. But it is ideal for paper, and adds to the intriguing fact. Emile Hirsch as Chris, is on screen most of the 140 minutes. Is memorably convincing as the rebel, the young looking for.

Sean Penn is a screenwriter and director of "Into The Wild", and never fails to interest fell. If an object is to have, is that almost everyone who met Chris on the road are kind and generous. One could resist, if he thinks too much and not feel. I never thought I would say that - but I do not think too much.

With "Into The Wild," Penn is a descendant of Frank Capra. If you want to reject Capra, the film can reject Penn.

Sean Penn is a political lightning rod, but if there are any policies on "Into The Wild", which remain nuances. When an eagle pecks to carrion, which might be suggestive, but it is subtle.

Sean Penn, in his own way, loves his country, and "Into The Wild" is a labor of love. "Into The Wild" can awaken the wanderlust. As a child, I escaped from home. I have driven across the country three times. I am not a walker, but walking through the Wissahickon woods - Grace Kelly, which once roamed - in Pennsylvania and John Bryan State Park in Ohio. "Into The Wild" that brings fundamental sense of wanderlust. "Into The Wild" is both sweet and heartbreaking. There is an ineffable sadness to this young man's search for a better world. This is one more of us have left. Christopher McCandless relights the torch of our innocence. "Into The Wild" is a spiritual dream. Could only help save our souls.

Between 1990 and 1992, Chris McCandless, freshly graduated in law, makes a long journey, hitchhiking mainly, through the United States. But it was not until spring 1992 at the age of 24 years, when Chris decided to fulfill his real dream: to survive by themselves in a natural setting, away from society and the systems created. This idea goes in April, alone and with little more baggage that a few books, the lands of Alaska. Had donated all his savings ($ 24,000) to the charity Oxfam. He dreamed of a life in the wild, no more possessions than those that could carry in his backpack. Four months later, some hunters found her lifeless body. Her story, broadcast in a report to Jon Krakauer Outside Magazine, elicited a hectic debate. For some, it was a bold visionary, for others, a naive and a fool without any knowledge of nature.
